Terms of service
HookProof is built and run by one person. These terms are the deal between you and HookProof, written to be read rather than scrolled past. Using the site means you accept them.
What the service is
You paste a video script. HookProof returns a predicted retention curve, a hook score, and rewrites for the lines most likely to lose viewers. You can add a voice sample so the rewrites sound like you. That is the whole product: there are no accounts, no signup, and no user database behind it.
Your scripts and acceptable use
Only paste scripts you wrote or hold the rights to, and only upload voice samples of voices you are entitled to use. Nothing unlawful goes through the analyzer.
These will get your access cut off:
- Scraping or automating the API beyond normal use of the analyzer.
- Reselling HookProof’s analyses or rewrites as your own service.
- Circumventing the free-tier limit, by scripted cookie clearing or any other trick.
The free tier
Free use is 2 analyses a day. The counter lives in a signed cookie in your browser, because with no accounts and no database your browser is the only place the count can live. Clearing cookies clears the counter; doing that deliberately to dodge the limit is the circumvention covered in section 02.
Paid plans and billing
Creator is $19 a month. Pro is $39 a month. Both bill monthly as a subscription through Stripe Checkout. Your card details go directly to Stripe; HookProof never sees or stores card numbers.
After checkout, your plan lives in a signed cookie in the browser you bought it from. Clearing cookies removes the plan from that browser but leaves the subscription itself untouched. To restore access, re-open the checkout confirmation link from your Stripe receipt, or email support.
Cancelling
Cancel any time through “Manage billing” on the checkout confirmation page, which opens the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation stops future charges immediately, and your access continues to the end of the period you already paid for. Money-back questions are covered in the Refund policy.
Predictions, not promises
The retention curve and hook score are predictions. They exist to help you spot weak lines before you record, which makes HookProof an editorial aid and nothing more. It guarantees no outcome: not actual retention, not views, not revenue. A high hook score is a forecast, never a promise about how a video will perform.
Who owns what
Your scripts and voice samples stay yours. Submitting them gives HookProof only the rights needed to run the analysis you asked for. The output (rewrites, curve, scores) is yours to use in your work, no attribution needed, on the free tier or paid.
Everything else on the site, including the design, the copy, and the blog posts (which are AI-generated, as part of how the product works), belongs to HookProof. Don’t republish it as yours.
As is, and the liability cap
HookProof is provided as is and as available, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied. Predictions can be wrong. The site can go down.
If HookProof somehow causes you a loss anyway, total liability is capped at the fees you paid HookProof in the 12 months before the claim. On the free tier, that cap is zero.
Changes to these terms
These terms can change. When they do, the effective date at the top moves, and material changes get a note on the site. Continuing to use HookProof after a change means you accept it; if you don’t, cancel and stop using the service.
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of the United States. For anything in this document, email phil.buendia@gmail.com. A person reads that inbox.
